Huck Finn- Main Character, really poor, has an alcoholic and abusive father. Tom sawyers right hand man. Huck gets caught up with rules that conflict. Ex. Religion vs. Gut instinct, that tend to get to him. Huck runs away and travels down the Mississippi river on a raft to escape from civilization proplems. Huck and Jim run into a couple problems during their journey and have a lot of chaotic adventures.

Tom Sawyer- Huck's Best buddy. Even though he is the complete opposite of Huck. Toms an an adventure junkie. He always wants to be in the middle of the action. Tries to live off off these adventure books he reads using them as a guide on how he wants to run things.
Jim- Runaway slave of Miss. Watson takes the adventure with Huck. Jim is very superstitious but in a smart way. It takes Huck a while to realize that Jim is not just a piece of property he's a human just like Huck. Throughout their travels Jim and Huck become closer and closer to where they become best friends. Jim makes Huck realize that skin tone is only skin deep. He is great to Huck as the book progresses. Ex. Jim from having to see the dead man that they find in the cave. (Turns out to Huck,s dad), also Jim takes shifts watching Huck's back while they are on the raft.\
Widow Douglas- She takes Huck under her wing, and tries to civilize him. Sister of miss. Watson who is Jim's owner. Huck really looks up to Widow Douglas, and is always afraid he is going to do something to disappoint her. Miss. Watson and Widow douglas even though they are sisters seem to be opposite people and have completely different beliefs.
Pap- Huck's father and town drunk. He doesn't want huck to be anything more than he is. He does not approve of Huck trying to be literate and educated. He physically and emotionally abuses Huck. At one point he even kidnaps his own son! Pap is also very racist in the novel and can't seem to hold a family together.
